We have WON the RUNNER UP PRIZE in the SCOTLAND’S FINEST WOODS COMPETITION.
The prize is worth £1,000 – which will be invested in future projects in the woods.and will be awarded to us at the Royal Highland Show on 25th June.
Its great to receive recognition for all the hard work and effort which has gone in to looking after the woodland since the inauguration of D.C.W.G. in 2000, especially since the transfer of ownership in April 2007, with the sourcing and implementation of grant funding.
BENCHES FOR THE WOODS
Now that the paths are almost complete, we have 2 benches to install, made by groups of second year pupils from Dunbar Grammar School during their recent Activities Week, under the expert guidance of Kenny Grieve of Brotus Rural Crafts.
One of the benches is to be sited by the main sign at the ‘Stone’ corner, but we need ideas as to where to the site the second one.
SO PLEASE GIVE US IDEAS ON WHERE TO SITE THE SECOND BENCH.
LITTER IN THE WOODS
Drinking dens and bonfires continue to present problems in the woods, as does dog-fouling. Now that the woods are looking great, it would be wonderful if we could collectively be vigilant about looking after the woods.
PLEASE REPORT ANY INCIDENTS TO THE WOODLAND GROUP OR TO THE POLICE.
