Draft Woodland Management Plan

In close collaboration with Dunbar Community Development and Heritage Trust (DCDHT) and supported by generous funding from Dunbar Community Council we commissioned Treeline to create an updated Woodland Management Plan for the whole of Lochend Woods.

Written by a qualified and experienced Forester the plan identifies the opportunities and challenges present in Lochend Woods, and sets out a proposal for the sustainable management of the woodland moving forwards.

Dunbar Community Woodland Group currently manage compartments 1 through 10 of Lochend Woods, as show in the map below. The plan also covers an additional three compartments now owned by DCDHT, and the plan should also be viewed as the start of a discussion about whether it is feasible for Dunbar Community Woodland Group to manage these compartments also.

As noted the plan is currently in draft and at this time we would welcome all comments and feedback on it. An evening event will take place at Hallhill on Friday 1 May where there will be an opportunity to come along and learn more about the plan, meet the Forester who created it, and ask any questions.

Feedback and questions can also be submitted by email to dcwgsecretary@gmail.com.
