THE LOCHEND STONES

Artist JAMES WINNETT will do interpretive tours of his carvings –
11am – from Kellie Road/Gathering Area, and 1pm – from Hallhill Car park.

At 3pm PAULINE SMEED of Dunbar History Society (secretary) will join us at the Gathering Area to officially unveil the stones. Come and learn all about the subjects of the 7 stones , James’s research, the carving process, and listen to Pauline’s knowledge on all things Dunbar history.

James will be conducting tours of the stones, which have been placed at 7 points between Brodie Road and Kellie Road forming a trail through the woods, explaining the process and the background to each stone.

This project has been 6 years in the making, and it is very exciting to have them with us at last.

European Land Art Festival

The European Land Art Festival‘s week of activities around Dunbar returns on Thursday 11th.

This is their third enlarged festival, when the artists come to the woods and spend the day creating fabulous art works, using the natural materials they find in the woods. On the other days they work on the beaches and shoreline.

This is definitely worth coming to see, and if you cannot get to the woods during the day, do have a walk around the woods before or after the AGM.
