Visiting Lochend Woods

Getting there

Please walk as there is no car parking.

Click here for walking directions from the top of Station Road, Dunbar to the romantic centre of the woods on Lover’s Walk.

A map is available on our Tree Quest leaflet.

Using the woods

Of course everyone is free to enjoy the beauty of Lochend Woods at any time, but if you’re thinking of organising an event, please let us know so that we can ensure that the dates don’t clash with other activities.

The Gathering Space behind the stone at the corner of Kellie Road and Middlemas Road is often used for woodworking classes, and group activities. We have an outdoor oven which can be used for making pizza, and a marquee which can be hired for bigger events. We always appreciate a donation towards the cost of the upkeep of the woods – looking after the paths and repairing storm-damaged trees mostly.

Facilities

Oven

The outdoor cob (clay) wood-fired oven is great for baking pizzas, bannocks, scones etc, and is available for general use. It was installed in August 2013 and after a few trial runs, we have mastered how to use it. Please contact DCWG if you wish to use the oven, for advice on how to get it going (it can be tricky) and to let us know when you wish to use it, to ensure there is no clash with another event.
Use of the oven is free of charge to DCWG members; £10 for non-members.

Marquee

The DCWG marquee (6m x 4m) is available for hire for your event/party, and is useful as a temporary ‘extension’ to your house and/or shelter in your garden.

Instructions and advice for its erection are included.

Charges: – £20 for members, £30 for non-members

Our volunteers may be able to deliver it and collect it after your event for an additional charge of £10.

Please ask about this when booking.

Please contact us if you’d like to find out more.
